Welcome to the 21st Century

When words well-used cannot convey

The meaning they exclaim,

When ears can no more comprehend

Than mouth can answer frame,

When gestures and expressions lose

The power they add to words,

And silence has no more effect

Than nothing to be heard,

When feeling in the tone of voice

Is madness in disguise,

And getting angry when provoked

Is worse than telling lies,

When caring for the ones we love

Is seen as being weak,

When God’s name’s only mentioned

In the curses that men speak,

When none will hear the words we say

And see the things we see

When all refuse to understand

In bondage though they be

Trust not in men to do you good

But know they would not if they could,

No more than they can see.
